Where We Started
Mike Mastrobattista grew up in the small town of North Plainfield, New Jersey. Throughout his junior high and high school years, Mike worked in his father’s family-owned construction business, Mastrobattista & Sons. There he learned all facets of the masonry and construction industry. His hobbies often included furniture making and stain glasswork. He then went on to serve as a part-time carpenter apprentice working towards his Journeyman’s card, which he received in 1983 through the New Jersey local carpenters union.
In 1987 Mike decided to relocate to San Diego and take advantage of the warmer climate that was ideal for his continued career as a carpenter and builder.
Mike secured a job with a local San Diego-based Construction Company, where he built and supervised the staircase and railing construction of over fifty hillside condominium homes. Shortly after, Mike obtained his State of California contractors license and founded his own company, Select Builders.
Mike’s responsibilities as a company owner include Design, Drafting, Estimating, Project Management, and Supervision, as well as Consulting. Mike is also certified in the field of Lead and Asbestos Awareness and has been a member of the Western Regional Master Builders Association since 1997.
Mike expanded his business to include a cabinet and furniture manufacturing facility named, SB Custom Cabinetry, where he manufactured and produced all of the cabinetry and fine woodworking for his construction projects.
In 2005 Mike founded another company by the name of (SDC) Select Development Corporation. SDC developed and manufactured hand and power tools for the construction industry. Mike is the inventor and patent holder for two of these construction-related tools.
Mike’s main focus will always remain in the new home, remodeling, and luxury home cinema building industry. He continues to own and operate Select Builders with one goal in mind, to faithfully serve his clients with integrity and a high level of service that can’t be beaten!
